Employment Opportunities

We are hiring for the following positions. To apply, please go to the Get Involved page and note the role that interests you.

We are looking for proven leaders, influencers, and domain experts who understand the full potential of the moment and have bold new ideas about what needs to be done. You will help us build, shape, and steer both our company and this growing movement.

Current Opportunities

Accounting/Admin Director

You will help oversee New Founding’s accounting and key administrative functions (eg HR, information management), playing a key role in our growth as a business.

Because of the importance of these functions, trust, judgment, and care are of utmost importance. This will be a senior oversight role; you may initially do much of the work yourself, but will have more help as the company grows. This can be a part-time role, provided you bring the right experience and are effective at managing and delegating.

Depending on your experience and capacity, this could be or grow into a more extensive leadership role, with oversight of routine legal and other general business functions. The role will be based in Dallas although some portion of the work can be done from home.

Desirable skills/experience:

  • Mid-level or higher accounting and treasury experience
  • Ability to find and manage outside contractors, including accountants, HR vendors, etc.
  • Ability to manage and train internal team
  • Very strong organization and communication skills; you will have ownership of these functions, but should always know how to maintain redundancy and backup plans.

Executive Assistant

You will work closely with New Founding’s team—and especially co-founders—as they launch and grow the business. You will be helping in any way possible, but especially general administrative and logistical work, including some personal assistance. This is a high-trust role requiring common sense, resourcefulness, and self-motivation—and especially mission alignment.

Though it is not required, we would prefer if you’ve lived in Dallas for many years and have strong local networks and knowledge that you can draw on to get things done (eg events, logistics, local norms). Much of our team is relatively new to Dallas, so your knowledge may help in many ways—including as a resource as more move here.

We’re flexible about the exact nature of the role. The main thing we want is leverage—someone who knows how to take initiative and apply skills that help us and our company as it grows. This could be part- or full-time, and while at least a few days a week in the office will be necessary some of the work can be done from home. We’d be open to someone without prior experience in a role exactly like this, provided you have relevant experience; eg this could be a good role for someone who recently finished homeschooling or is otherwise returning to the workplace. We are also flexible about the trajectory of this role: both steady work or growth in responsibility within the company are possible.

Desirable skills/experience (each is valuable but not required):

  • Organizing and planning a wide range of activities and events, with an ability to execute new projects.
  • Finding, evaluating, and overseeing contractors.
  • Executive assistant or other administrative management work.
  • Managing projects, teams, or organizations.

Required:

  • Self-motivated
  • Resourceful
  • Organized
  • Strong written communications skills

Literary Editor, RETURN

You will be the founding Literary Editor (title negotiable) of RETURN, New Founding’s flagship publication focused on living well in a digital age. You will lead and grow the fiction and narrative nonfiction stream of content. You will work with the Editor and the Publisher to nimbly, creatively, and methodically commission, curate, and edit accessible, gripping, risk-taking, and path-breaking pieces both for the RETURN website publication and for the quarterly print publication.

This is your opportunity to make a unique and historic cultural statement to a national audience of readers and critics; to contribute significantly to the course of American letters at a time of unprecedented uncertainty and possibility; and to have a good time doing it.

You will work with a closely-aligned group of highly motivated individuals committed to revitalizing American civilization through products, including tech and media products, that not only entertain and inform but catalyze community development, identity, and action.

This is a position that will require swift and thorough preparatory work during the pre-launch period for RETURN (April through mid-June), the launch period (mid-June through July), and the post-launch period (July forward).

Reporting to the Editor and, at times, the Publisher, during all phases of the job running from pre-launch to post-launch, you will:

  •     Exercise primary responsibility and oversight for all fiction and narrative nonfiction (personal stories/essays, longform narrative reportage, etc.) produced for publication and distribution under the RETURN name, including on the website, in the quarterly, and online in social media and other potential formats such as in-person or on-air reads;
  •     Adeptly discern between types and styles of literary content best suited for (e.g.) the website versus the quarterly, ensuring an identity of style, focus, and feel across all publications while playing intelligently with the distinct possibilities and cultures of online versus offline content;
  •     Help guide and direct editorial staff in the development and refinement of the unique voice and brand of RETURN through daily work and strategic planning, and help build among influential audiences a powerful, attractive, and irresistible brand reputation; and
  •     Regularly participate in editorial meetings and discussions at all phases to help ensure the distributed staff of RETURN across multiple time zones works seamlessly and with élan to establish and deliver on its brand and content promises in concert with events, merchandise, and other initiatives ramped up during the launch process.

For the short term, this is potentially a fully remote position. Relocation to Dallas is encouraged but not initially required, although the RETURN and larger New Founding teams will want and need to meet in person several times annually minimum.

Strategy, Marketing, and PR Firm Head

You will help build and launch a new strategy, marketing and PR firm. As legacy firms go woke or remain anchored to stagnant messages and models, there is an enormous opportunity to help clients (businesses, individuals, politicians, etc) aligned with our vision and values reach the large segment of the American public alienated or uninspired by legacy strategies. We will offer a vibrant alternative, including provocative, attention-grabbing, and deeply resonant marketing messages; communications tactics that prove alignment with this market (rather than betray it); and internal messaging that reinforces congruence and preserves company culture.

This will be a founder/executive-level role. You will be responsible for driving the launch and growth of this firm, hiring key people (in addition to a few who will join from our team), capitalizing on the New Founding leads and network, and developing the structure and business model. You will lead evaluation and execution of all opportunities in this space, including wide-ranging and complex engagements, senior lateral hires, talent development programs, and firm acquisitions or JVs. You must be able to inspire client trust and steward the trust of the audiences we help them market to/communicate with, and contribute to a broader firm culture where these are prioritized.

This role will ideally be based in Dallas, allowing close interaction with the rest of the New Founding team, but we are open to other or split locations. Your compensation arrangement is negotiable, and will be primarily firm equity and/or profit participation.

Marketing and PR Project Lead

You will initially serve one of our partner companies, Praxis (discoverpraxis.com), while working with the broader New Founding organization to leverage our network and help shape our new strategy, marketing and PR firm. Praxis offers a compelling alternative to college, combining a 6-month professional development bootcamp with a 6-month paid apprenticeship in a high-growth business, and is entering a strong growth phase where you will play a key role in driving their success.

Within Praxis, you will build out the affiliate and advertising partnership program, lead earned media and PR efforts, and ultimately carry a significant amount of responsibility for the growth of our marketing and sales pipeline to help Praxis reach its full potential as a company and program. You will work closely with Praxis’s CEO and COO day-to-day, in addition to interaction with parts of the New Founding team.

Beyond Praxis, the new firm we are launching will offer a vibrant alternative to legacy marketing & PR, letting us help a select ground of clients aligned with our vision and values reach a large segment of the American public increasingly alienated by legacy firms. Because of the close interaction with New Founding, including others launching the new firm, this role will be based in Dallas. The Praxis team is entirely remote, and you will be able to work with them from Dallas.

Role Priorities:

  • Build out Affiliate and Advertising Partnership Program: Praxis is gaining strong traction on affiliate partnerships with interest-based niche podcasts/IG accounts/student orgs and media advertisers. Your primary responsibility will be to scale up our efforts in this area quickly, including researching and recruiting new affiliate and ad partners to test out, rolling out new partnership efforts with speed, maintaining great relationships with successful partners, tracking and measuring success of partnerships, and constantly figuring out how to improve and scale up what works.
  • Lead Earned Media and PR Efforts: Praxis has attracted high-quality prospects to the program through earned media. It’s been featured on Fox News and other large media outlets numerous times, and gotten high-quality niche podcast appearances and thought pieces published. The New Founding network offers additional connections to help achieve this goal, and you will seek out opportunities to bridge these with Praxis’s needs.
  • Contribute to Broader Marketing, PR, and firm-building Efforts: You will have more limited opportunities to contribute to other projects, including for other clients and/or those related to building the new firm.

Desirable skills:

  • Self-starter with ability to identify, pursue, negotiate, and close everything from small PR hits to significant partnerships
  • Understanding of the marketing and PR business, including common terms, structures, and pricing practices
  • Knowledge of (and even better, contacts/relationships in) relevant media sectors, such as broader right-wing media, Christian media, homeschooling and higher education reform-focused spaces, and any others that may offer promotion opportunities

General Marketing and PR

New Founding is launching a new strategy, marketing and PR firm.

In addition to the firm head and project roles already described, we would like to speak with both potential clients and professionals with relevant marketing or PR skills and experience who are excited by the vision for this firm. Please reach out and let us know how we might be able to work together.

Graphic Designer

You will help design our publications, website, and other materials—and in doing so, help chart a new and distinct aesthetic for the right. This role may also include significant work in the new strategy, marketing and PR firm described above.

You should already be exploring new aesthetics and diverge from both the tired televisual era and the now-conformist styles and symbols that dominate Silicon Valley and the corporate world, and considering how your aesthetics connect with your values. Ideally, you’re also already familiar with others exploring such aesthetics, and will be able to draw on (and at times procure) work from a variety of other aligned designers and artists.

Those with extensive “very online” digital experience with memes, etc. are welcome to apply, as well as those with professional experience in larger corporate settings who wish to move to a more creative and daring workplace.

You should have at least a few years of experience doing professional design work, and the skills to work on a range of design projects. This role can evolve from remote and part-time to full-time in Dallas.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize, design and implement creative graphics and content
  • Develop and design layouts, copy, and images for advertisement and digital efforts
  • Update existing presentations and creative; design new ones, create branded creative for client presentations
  • Implement UI elements in Html/CSS and/or via WordPress for updates to websites
  • Assist marketing team with edits to digital assets (email, landing pages, content downloads) using a variety of marketing tools
  • Coordinate with the marketing and UX departments to confirm marketing objectives, creative direction, and brand consistency

Social Editor, RETURN

You will be the founding Social Editor (title negotiable) of RETURN, New Founding’s flagship publication focused on living well in a digital age. You will spin up and run point on the web native content stream. Reporting to the Editor and (at times) Literary Editor, you will develop, produce, and manage audio, video, and text-based content that lives and travels well outside of the RETURN website publication and quarterly print publication.

This is a position at the front line of RETURN’s exposure to and engagement with new audiences online, where the bulk of day-to-day interaction will take place. You will execute on content ideas developed by the Editors (and the Publisher) as well as generate and convert editorial ideas into arresting, inspiring, must-engage pieces of content and micro-content, both substantive and promotional. Ideally, you should already be keenly following and able to analyze and explain relevant, disruptive tech-related developments related to blockchain, crypto, etc.

During the pre-launch period for RETURN (April through mid-June), the launch period (mid-June through July), and the post-launch period (July forward), this position is your opportunity to make a unique and historic cultural statement to a national audience of readers and critics; to contribute significantly to the online discourse at a time of unprecedented uncertainty and possibility; and to have a good time doing it.

You will work with a closely-aligned group of highly motivated individuals committed to revitalizing American civilization through products, including tech and media products, that not only entertain and inform but catalyze community development, identity, and action, and the Social Editor will be expected and relied upon to evidence this mission consistent across multiple social platforms.

The ideal Social Editor will:

  • Be instinctively familiar with the major social media platforms, with tech and device culture (from r/wallstreetbets to various blockchain-based services), and with the most relevant and creative ways that media and tech interface and intersect online;
  • Love manipulating and constructing viral and adventurous content across media types, surprising and delighting audiences with hooky interventions that pull both more basic and more edgy consumers into the RETURN universe;
  • Take to a new and growing brand like a fish to water, equal parts dedicated and playful in approaching the mundane tasks and thrilling challenges of establishing a commanding presence in the online space and making and delivering on bold, distinctive, and unapologetic promises; and
  • Toggle between writing and creative tasks as well as technical work and analysis effortlessly: you will be as capable of keeping vibes cringe-free as you are in breaking down the ins and outs of the newest tech products and relevant startups.

For at least the short term, this is a fully remote position. Relocation to Dallas is encouraged but not required, although the RETURN and larger New Founding teams will want and need to meet in person several times annually minimum.

Writers

You are a writer who can address and explore:

  • The intersection of technology and human life, well-lived. This includes not only analyzing and deconstructing the negative aspects of technology but pointing our alliance towards how to use technology in the service of fulfilling ways of life. We are especially looking for those with constructive suggestions for the development and use of new tech that does not merely extract value from users, but contributes to their well being, healthy expression, and creative vitality. We also seek writers with a demonstrated ability to analyze and review products and services and compose compelling profiles of companies and people,
  • The way in which men and women can respectively live healthy, meaningful lives as men and women in the current landscape. This includes analyzing and rethinking mainstream cultural norms and shibboleths as well as practical suggestions and advice about how to work towards more fulfilling ways of life. We also seek writers with a demonstrated ability to analyze and review products and services and compose compelling profiles of companies and people.

Curators/Influencers

We are also seeking experienced influencers and curators of articles, products, and services with insightful ideas about how to better our habits of living as men and women in the digital age. If you have a deep knowledge and love of an aspect of human life that you consistently present to public audiences, we may want you to curate for our alliance.

This position will usually entail working remotely part-time.

Graphic Designer

You will help design our publications, website, and other materials—and in doing so, help chart a new and distinct aesthetic for the right.

This role can evolve from remote and part-time to full time in Dallas.

Web Designer

You will help design and build our websites. You should have particular skill in UI and UX design, and know how to work quickly as we experiment with new products and websites. You may also play a role in shaping our broader aesthetic, and—depending on your skills—this role may overlap with the functions described in the Graphic Designer or Web Developer roles.

You should have at least a few years of experience doing web design work and be familiar with best practices and relevant software and tools. This role may be remote, but ideally you can join us in Dallas.

Web Developer

You will help with all aspects of our web development. This will include our new publications and other sites and products—including potentially social or e-commerce products. Given the need to limit risks like Parler’s deplatforming, you should understand how to build these in robust ways, and have the judgment to balance speed and risk as we both quickly experiment with and build out websites.

You will also play a role in exploring and analyzing new platforms and technologies that solve our needs and may have broad value to others who face similar risks. This may include friendlier alternatives to censorious companies like AWS, open tools such as Ghost, and newer technologies such as Urbit and crypto tools. Ideally you can both consider and implement these for us and write about them for others with similar needs.

This role may be remote, but as our needs expand, relocation to Dallas may allow further growth in this role.

Illustrator

You will be the founding Illustrator (title negotiable) of RETURN, New Founding’s flagship publication, launching Summer of 2021, focused on living well in a digital age. Beginning as soon as possible, before, during, and after launch, you will be making decisions in one of RETURN’s most important domains: its aesthetic vocabulary. Working with the Editor and occasionally the Publisher, you will tell stories without words and articulate ideas through beautiful, simple and purposeful graphic design. Your skills and creative eye will be responsible for displaying aesthetic mastery to the reader, and your attention to detail will produce images — including, sometimes, animated images — that reinforce and are consonant with the textual content (such as articles, interviews, and reviews) that they accompany. You will be the day-to-day storyteller whose visual language will cumulatively define the RETURN brand in our audience’s eye. You’ll innovate and architect online experiences that may never have been introduced before. Reporting to the Editor, you will be responsible for illustrating and composing the images for articles, promotional materials, and various parts of the website. You will assist in the creation of the layout and aesthetic of RETURN’s highly-visual print quarterly, launching in Fall of 2021.

The ideal Illustrator will:

  • Have a nuanced love of technology — physical, digital, and traditional.

  • Be skilled in and curious about a wide range of visual design: manipulating photographs, creating illustrations, and designing industrial-style explosions of pieces of physical technology.

  • Have a multimedia portfolio that demonstrates a sophisticated personal vibe.

  • Be adept at seamlessly moving among types of media and design: print and digital editions; video, still and animated images; industrial design and illustration.

  • Possess and nimbly wield excellent sensibilities regarding layout and motion design.

  • Demonstrate expertise in software such as Figma, Sketch, or the Adobe Suite.

For at least the short term, this is a fully remote position. Relocation to Dallas is encouraged but not required, although the RETURN and larger New Founding teams will want and need to meet in person several times annually minimum.

IT Manager

You will help build out and manage New Founding’s IT Department in its early stages, playing a key role in our infrastructure as New Founding expands. At this early stage, you will be running the IT team by yourself. However, as the company grows, you will lay the groundwork for the IT department and later manage a team of IT professionals. This position will be involved in a wide range of critical organizational and administrative tasks, including managing information between each of New Founding’s departments.

IT will be a critical component to the expansion of New Founding. Consequently, trust, judgment, and care will be of the utmost importance. It is also critical that you are a well-rounded, team player who can be a member of our community and integrate the overall mission of New Founding into IT infrastructure development.

The IT Manager will be responsible for overseeing all technology infrastructure and solutions for New Founding staff. You will automate, analyze, evaluate, troubleshoot, and develop IT operations to support office activities. Additionally, you will train, supervise, and support office staff with all information technology needs.

  • At least 3 to 5 years experience in a professional IT role with progressively increasing responsibility, or previous IT management experience;
  • A strategic view of back-end infrastructure and development;
  • A track record as a self-starter and great communicator;
  • An intellectual curiosity about current and future technologies;
  • An interest in tinkering and a drive to figure things out.

Back-end developer experience with the following is desired but not required:

  • Server hosting and administration, particularly Site Ground;
  • Database management technologies;
  • Security architecture development;
  • Web development and administration, particularly WordPress.

The ideal IT Manager will also have a general interest in decentralized technologies, especially those involving social networks, IT infrastructure, finance, and communication.

Because of the nature of this role, it will be full-time and located in our office in Dallas, TX.

You will work with our team to execute creative scripts using video from a variety of sources. You should be able to research and source visual assets from existing news footage, YouTube clips, stock footage, and more. You should be skilled in multiple aspects of video creation, including editing (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro), thumbnail strategy, SEO, and Analytics.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years experience as an in-house or freelance editor/producer.
  • Skilled in one of the major video editing suites.
  • Able to create basic motion graphics (text on screen, lower third, etc).
  • Can add sound effects, voice-over, music, and do basic color correction.
  • Fast, smart, fun, friendly, and easy to work with.
